Senior Minister of State Visits MGS

On Wednesday 10 February, Mr S Iswaran, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and for Education, was at MGS to better understand the school’s mission in nurturing women of excellence.

Mr Iswaran was warmly welcomed by the Senior Management Team and a group of girls from the Primary school; the little girls, in typical MGS style, sang of the delight in having a special guest at MGS. On his way to the Board Room for a dialogue with the key personnel, the Minister had a glimpse of the talents at MGS when he heard Rachel Lim (Secondary 4D) and Nathania Ong (P6.3) sing; the girls presented him the CD Mplified produced to raise funds in support of the President’s Challenge 2009.

The Minister appreciated the dynamic learning environment at MGS, made distinctive by its rich curriculum, milestone programmes, the Sophia Blackmore Class (SBC), ROCs, SBL, RYC and a host of awards in sports, the arts, uniformed groups and others.

The Minister commended MGS for its academic achievements, especially in making its mark in mastering the English Language. He was given an insight into the many opportunities the girls have at school, and beyond, to hone their proficiency in the language.
